A 39-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother in the Hauz Qazi area of the national capital, police said on Sunday. In her complaint, the woman stated that the incident took place after she returned from a pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia with her husband and daughter on August 1. She told police that her son assaulted her soon after her return and again tried to attack her the next day, forcing her to leave for her elder daughter-in-law’s house.
Police said the woman reported that on August 1, after arriving in Delhi, her son attacked her and tried to assault her again the following day. Because of this, she went to stay at her elder daughter’s in-laws’ home. The complaint stated that on August 11, around 9:30 pm, when she came back home, the accused locked her inside a room, threatened her with a knife and scissors, forced her to remove her clothes, and then raped her. The woman said she kept silent because of fear and embarrassment, and began sleeping in her daughter’s room instead. But on the night of August 14, around 3:30 am, her son again forced himself on her.
The police said the accused locked her in a room, threatened her with sharp objects, and raped her. She was too afraid to tell anyone, but later revealed that he repeated the act on August 14. A case has been filed under Section 64(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at the Hauz Qazi police station. The accused has been taken into custody, and further investigation is in progress. The survivor stays with her 72-year-old husband, who is a retired government employee, their 25-year-old daughter, and the accused, who is an unemployed graduate.
