Rain havoc in Delhi: Metro stopped on Blue Line, passengers' troubles increased during office hours

National News: Heavy rain in Delhi on Monday halted the pace of the capital. On one hand, people had to struggle for hours due to heavy traffic jams and waterlogging on the roads; on the other hand, metro services were also affected. The Delhi Metro's Blue Line was the worst hit, with services coming to a sudden halt at the Rajiv Chowk section.

Metro stopped on Blue Line; passengers stranded

There was a sudden problem on the Blue Line during the busy evening office return. According to the information, trains stopped due to technical problems on the Noida Electronic City route. There was chaos at the Rajiv Chowk metro station and a large number of passengers were stranded. People were stranded on the platform and many passengers were forced to leave the station.

Passengers said on social media (X) that at around 7:45 pm a train stood for a long time at the Supreme Court Metro Station, due to which the crowd on the platform kept increasing.

DMRC statement

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reacted to the incident and said, "Blue Line update: Services are delayed between Barakhamba and Indraprastha metro stations. Services are normal on all other lines."

This update was posted at 7:42 pm. However, no new status was given after that, which further increased the discomfort of the passengers.

Passengers expressed anger on Social Media

Passengers were quite angry due to technical glitches and lack of information. One user wrote, "Is this the 'service' of Delhi Metro after the fare hike? Waiting for more than 30 minutes, no announcements, a crowd on the platform and increased danger. Passengers should get better facilities than this."

Another passenger said, "The train on the Blue Line was standing at the Supreme Court station for 20 minutes, due to which the entire platform was jam-packed."

Traffic jam increased trouble

While on one hand metro services were disrupted, on the other hand heavy rain created chaos on the streets of Delhi.

• Long queues of vehicles were seen on South Delhi, Ring Road and Mahatma Gandhi Road.
• The jam increased further due to waterlogging in many areas.
• Vehicles were stuck at a slow pace for hours on Netaji Subhash Place, Lala Jagat Narain Marg and Outer Ring Road in northwest Delhi.
