In a shocking case of brutality, a 34-year-old truck driver was arrested for allegedly murdering his wife and storing her decomposing body in his truck’s cabin while roaming the streets of Delhi's Okhla area for nearly a week. The accused, identified as Pradeep Singh, was apprehended on Sunday after confessing his crime to his employer over the phone.

Murder confession leads to arrest

According to police, Pradeep Singh murdered his wife, Neetu Singh, on November 18 or 19, suspecting her of infidelity. After committing the crime, Pradeep struggled to dispose of the body and instead wrapped it in sheets, keeping it inside the truck. For days, he continued with his routine in the Okhla industrial area, evading detection.

The matter came to light when Pradeep stopped responding to calls and messages from his employer, who owns the truck. Growing suspicious, the employer sent a colleague to locate Pradeep. Upon inspecting the vehicle, the colleague discovered the decomposing body and reported it to the owner, who then alerted the Delhi police.

Chilling details of the crime

Investigations revealed that Pradeep had called his wife to Delhi from Haryana's Hansi between November 15 and 16. The couple had an argument on November 18 or 19, during which Pradeep accused Neetu of cheating on him. The fight escalated, resulting in her murder.

Despite having access to a cold storage compartment in the truck, Pradeep chose to keep the body in the cabin. When police arrived at the scene in Okhla Industrial Area Phase 2, they discovered Neetu’s body wrapped in sheets, soaked in blood, and emitting a strong odour.

Troubled relationship

Police sources revealed that both Pradeep and Neetu were previously married and had divorced their respective spouses before moving in together. Though the couple claimed to have married in a temple, no official record of their marriage exists.

The case has raised serious concerns about domestic violence and mental health issues among couples. Investigations are ongoing to determine further details.
