Delhi-NCR, UP, Rajasthan On Alert: IMD Warns Of Rain, Dust Storms, Strong Winds

The south-west monsoon has once again gained momentum and is moving towards many states. IMD has predicted thunderstorms, rain and strong winds in 21 states in the next few days

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department has issued an alert for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning today in 21 states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and Rajasthan. Western disturbance is active and monsoon is also gaining momentum. The weather of North and Central India can change completely. Wind will blow at a speed of 60 to 85 km/h at many places.

How will the weather be in Delhi?

Delhi is expected to experience continuous rain from June 18 to 20. According to the weather department, the capital will remain cloudy. As per IMD, there may be dust storms and light rain between June 18 to 20. During this period the wind can blow up to 60 km/hour. After June 18, chances of rain are less, but strong winds will continue. 

What about the weather of Rajasthan?

There is an alert for severe thunderstorms and rain in western Rajasthan on June 18. Wind speed can be 60-70 km/hr, at some places gusts can reach 80 km/hr. Rain and storm activities will intensify between June 19 and 21.

What about Uttar Pradesh's weather?

There is an alert of strong storm and rain in the western and eastern areas of Uttar Pradesh. There will be heavy rain with dust storms in many districts. There is also a fear of lightning in some places. IMD has asked people to go out of their homes less.

How will be Uttarakhand weather?

Heavy rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in both the hilly and plain areas of Uttarakhand. Sudden changes in weather and road disruptions are possible in the mountains.

Which states have monsoon reached?

According to the Meteorological Department, South-West Monsoon has become active in many parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar. Due to its effect, rain activities are going to intensify in eastern and north-eastern India.
