Delhi Rain Today Brings Relief as IMD Issues Thunderstorm Alert for 11 States Within 15 Hours (X)
New Delhi: The sudden spell of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms led to a drop in temperature by two-three degrees across several parts of the national capital on Tuesday. Delhi also witnessed heavy hailstorm with strong winds likely around 50-60 kmph gusting to 70 kmph.
The India Meteorological Department has also issued a warning for light rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds with speeds of up to 40-50 kilometers per hour on Tuesday. The maximum temperature was around 33 degrees Celsius, and the minimum is expected to be 20 degrees Celsius, which is below normal.
According to the IMD, the weather is rapidly changing in both the hilly and plain areas of North India due to an active western disturbance. Rain, thunderstorms, and even hailstorms are expected in many areas, from Delhi-NCR, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand to Bihar and Odisha.
IMD has also issued warning of rain and thunderstorms for 11 states, including Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, on Wednesday. As per the weather department During this time, storms can blow at speeds of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. Torrential rains may once again wreak havoc in eastern India, with warnings of lightning and thunderstorms.
According to the IMD, a warning has been issued of heavy rain and thunderstorms for 11 states like, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Jharkhand, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and West Bengal.
During this period, winds will blow at speeds of 60 to 70 kilometers per hour. A warning of hailstorms has also been issued in some states. Due to the rain, temperatures may also drop by 2 to 3 degrees.
According to the IMD, Delhi may experience thunderstorms and hailstorms on Wednesday. Winds could reach speeds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, the maximum temperature in Delhi is expected to reach 34 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is expected to reach 23 degrees Celsius.
Rain and thunderstorms are expected in Saharanpur, Noida, Meerut, Mathura, Agra, Azamgarh, Kushinagar, Amethi, Kanpur, Mirzapur, Prayagraj, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur. Winds will blow at speeds of up to 60 kilometers per hour. Meanwhile, in Lucknow, the maximum temperature on May 6 will reach 32 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will reach 22 degrees Celsius.
Heavy rain and storm warnings have been issued for Patna, Siwan, Buxar, Bhojpur, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Rohtas, Kaimur, Gaya, West Champaran, East Champaran, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Bhagalpur, Katihar, and Khagaria. On May 6, the maximum temperature in Patna will reach 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will reach 23 degrees Celsius.
A heavy rain warning has been issued for Giridih, Dumka, Koderma, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Ranchi, and Palamu. Strong winds with speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected to accompany this rain. In Ranchi, the maximum temperature on May 6 will be 31 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 21 degrees Celsius.
A warning of heavy rain and storms has been issued for Nainital, Champawat, Almora, Rudraprayag, Haridwar, and Rishikesh. Winds can blow at speeds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour during this period. Meanwhile, in Dehradun, the maximum temperature on May 6 is expected to be 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to drop to 18 degrees Celsius.
A thunderstorm and rain alert has been issued for Mandi, Solan, Sirmaur, Una, Kinnaur, Shimla, Kangra, Chamba, and Hamirpur. Winds are expected to blow at speeds of 50 to 60 kilometers per hour during this period. On May 6, the maximum temperature in Manali will be 7 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 0 degrees Celsius.
A yellow alert has been issued for thunderstorms and rain in Hoshiarpur, Rupnagar, Ludhiana, Kapurthala, Gurdaspur, Mohali, and Patiala. Winds will blow at speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour during this period. There is also a warning of lightning during this period.
A warning for moderate rain has been issued for Hanumangarh, Bharatpur, Karauli, Dausa, Sikar, Jodhpur, Udaipur, Jaipur, and Dholpur. Strong winds with speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour are possible during this period. In Jaipur, the maximum temperature on May 6 will be 36 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature will be 26 degrees Celsius.
A moderate rain alert has been issued for Katni, Bhopal, Jabalpur, Shahdol, Singrauli, Satna, Balaghat, Vidisha, and Rewa. In Bhopal, the maximum temperature on May 6 will reach 37 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature will reach 24 degrees Celsius.
