Intel Alert Flags Lashkar-e-Taiba Threat to Religious Sites in Delhi, Red Fort on Radar (ANI)
New Delhi: High vigil continues in the capital following fresh inputs from intelligence agencies. According to reports, Pakistan-based terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba is planning an IED (Improvised Explosive Device) blast near a temple in the temple areas of Old Delhi, especially Chandni Chowk, security agencies have increased surveillance of sensitive areas following information. Additional security has also been deployed around the Red Fort.
According to ANI, based on intelligence sources and notes compiled by agencies, an alert has been sent to Delhi Police and the Central Government. According to inputs from local officials and analysts, possible targets are crowded religious places and historical places, hence security is being tightened.
Experts say that the recent warning is being linked to the Red Fort explosion of 2025, as the security sensitivity in the same area had increased earlier also. Therefore, the security forces are taking special precautions keeping in mind the past experiences.
Security has been beefed up in the main city—checkpoints have been increased at train stations, markets and religious places, crowd control is being put up by barriers and special teams are deployed to search for suspicious objects. The local administration has appealed to the general public to report any suspicious activity.
The intelligence inputs specifically mention old Delhi-central areas, crowded temples, markets and routes around the Red Fort. Crowd control, camera surveillance and intensive patrolling have been increased in these areas.
Information about any major arrest has not been released publicly yet. Security agencies are identifying possible suspects with the help of video footage, evidence and mobile-call transcripts. Further action will be taken based on the clues found in the investigation.
The administration has requested people to maintain patience and avoid rumours. Also, if any suspicious bag or person is seen in public places, it has been advised to immediately inform the police and not to spread any news on social media without official confirmation.
Investigating agencies are cross-verifying every available information and if necessary, more stringent security measures can be implemented. The administration believes that at present vigilance is the basic measure of security; Any kind of danger can be prevented only with the cooperation of public and administration.
