Traffic Advisory: Jams likely as farmers to enter Delhi today; Avoid these routes

The gathering has been permitted to the farmers with a condition that the mahapanchayat will neither have more than 5,000 participants, nor tractor trolleys would be allowed near the venue.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) announced that it will hold the All India Kisan Mazdoor Mahapanchayat at Delhi’s Ramlila Maidan on March 14. "Thousands of farmers, agriculture workers, and rural people have started marching towards Delhi to participate" in the event, according to a statement.

According to the sources, the gathering has been permitted to the farmers with a condition that the mahapanchayat will neither have more than 5,000 participants, nor tractor trolleys would be allowed near the venue. The SKM on Wednesday said that they have all the coordination committees to plan for the preparations for Thursday.

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha, an umbrella organization of 37 farm unions, called for a ‘mahapanchayat’ during a conference in Chandigarh on February 22. On which, the Delhi Police and municipal administration granted the permission for the gathering on March 11.

Notably, the farmers from Punjab and Haryana have been protesting against the policies of government. 

Kisan Mahapanchayat: Traffic Advisory

Delhi traffic police on Wednesday issued to advisory for the commuters and have requested them to cooperate by avoiding/bypassing mentioned routes. It also urged people to make maximum use of public transport. The traffic will be regulated between 6 am and 4 pm.
