National News: A massive fire broke out in Fatehpur’s firecracker market a day before Diwali. In Shantinagar, at the temporary firecracker market set up in the MG College campus, flames erupted on Sunday afternoon, causing panic. In no time, the fire engulfed several shops. The loud explosions spread chaos in the surrounding areas. Even about an hour after the fire started, explosions continued. Three people were badly burned in the incident and have been sent to the hospital.
According to eyewitnesses, around 12:15 PM, a fire suddenly broke out in one shop, triggering explosions throughout the market. The loud blasts destroyed several shops, and the fire was so intense that the flames and smoke could be seen several kilometers away from the college campus. A dozen fire trucks have reached the site to control the fire, while administrative officials are present to manage the situation.
The SP and DM also arrived at the scene, inspected the area, and directed that relief and rescue operations be accelerated. Nearby houses have been evacuated to prevent major casualties. Efforts to control the fire are still ongoing. The extent of the damage has not yet been assessed, but there are fears that hundreds of shops may have been reduced to ashes. The entire area remains in a state of panic following the incident.
