In a chilling incident from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, a Class 11 student was murdered by his Class 12 friend following a dispute over nude photos of the former’s girlfriend. The accused, now in custody, revealed that the victim had transferred sensitive images from his phone and used them to blackmail his girlfriend.

The accused lured his friend, Abhinav (16), under the pretext of attending coaching classes. He then took him to the banks of the Kali River in the Bhavanpur area and brutally attacked him with a hammer. The victim’s body was found mutilated, with severe injuries to the head, worsened by animals scavenging the remains. The gruesome discovery led to an uproar, and Abhinav's family staged a protest, blocking the roads in anguish.

Events leading to the murder

Abhinav, the son of a local grocery trader from Kankerkheda, Meerut, was preparing for engineering entrance exams at a reputed coaching center. On the day of the incident, he left home for classes but didn’t return. When his family failed to reach him, they reported him missing. Police investigations revealed his last location near a local mall. Upon questioning his friend, inconsistencies in his account raised suspicions. Under pressure, the accused confessed to the murder.

The motive behind the killing

According to police, the accused admitted that Abhinav had accessed private photos of his girlfriend and was using them to blackmail her into meeting him. The accused, enraged by this betrayal, plotted the murder. He confessed to leading Abhinav to the riverbank and fatally attacking him with a hammer.

The accused’s father, a retired army officer, is cooperating with the investigation. Meanwhile, the police continue to probe deeper into the case to gather further evidence.
