Greater Noida: In a horrific incident outside GNIT in Greater Noida, a second-year law student was brutally attacked while sitting in his car. The accused, Bhagat Singh, a resident of Palwal, Haryana, was arrested near Sector 147, Noida, by the Knowledge Park police. The victim, Kanav Negi, a law student from Asian Law College, Sector 125, Noida, sustained severe injuries and is currently in critical condition.
Police report said it was three days back when Kanav was going through his syllabus in the car for the exams. There, five men surrounded him and asked him for his name. Heeding his name, Bhagat Singh began stabbing him with a needle. Kanav had no other choice but be confined in the car as he had no opportunity to escape, while the culprit along with his four associates closed the car.
Kanav was subjected to several injuries, with severe stab wounds on his stomach, back, and shoulder. He was also hit on the head with an iron rod and became unconscious. The emergency response team took him to the hospital, where he underwent life-saving surgery, including removal of one kidney. Kanav is still in the ICU and is on a ventilator.
The police registered a case against the accused on charges of attempted murder and assault on complaint of the father of the victim. Acting in time, police have arrested Bhagat Singh and are on the lookout for his associates. The authorities assured that all persons involved in the heinous crime would be dealt with.
Other students at the scene of the incident informed the police of what had occurred, and described how the attackers ran away when they thought Kanav was dead. Their swift action helped save Kanav's life as he was rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The gruesome attack has shocked the local community and student fraternity. Calls for stringent action against the perpetrators are growing, with many emphasizing the need for increased safety measures around educational institutions.
