A shocking case has emerged from Banaskantha district in Gujarat, where a 20-year-old female student was allegedly repeatedly sexually assaulted by seven people over a period of 16 months. The horrific revelation has created shockwaves of anger throughout the region. The attackers allegedly recorded the barbaric acts, using the video to blackmail the victim and silence her.
The authorities have identified six of the seven accused, and an investigation is in progress to locate the remaining suspect. Instances of such brutality have been on the rise in India, and the need for stricter legal action against sexual violence has become more pressing than ever. The victim was deterred from going to the authorities earlier by fear of public shame and the possibility of the video being leaked on the internet.
The nightmare began when the student took admission in a college in Palanpur, where she met a young man through Instagram. In November 2023, he had asked her to meet him in a hotel for breakfast. In the course of the meeting, he intentionally dropped food on her clothes and asked her to freshen up in a private room. When she tried changing, the accused, Vishal Chaudhary, brutally pushed into the room and surreptitiously filmed a video of her.
After this incident, the victim was blackmailed into silence, and between November 2023 and February 2025, seven men allegedly assaulted her in turn, a total of seven. Whenever she protested, they would threaten to share the explicit videos on the internet, bringing her to submission.
After more than a year of misery, the case has finally emerged. The police have filed a complaint against all seven accused persons for repeated sexual assault and illicit recording of adult content. An investigation is in progress to ascertain justice for the victim and take the culprits to task.
