Gurmeet Ram Rahim Gets Fresh 30-Day Parole, Released for 16th Time Since Conviction (X)
New Delhi: Dera Sachcha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh has once again gotten 30 days of parole. On Tuesday morning he came out of Sunaria jail of Rohtak. This is the 16th time that Ram Rahim has been granted temporary relief after his conviction. He is serving a 20-year sentence in a rape case. It has been confirmed by the jail administration and his lawyer that during the parole period he will stay at the Dera headquarters in Sirsa.
Like every time, this time too a ruckus has started. The opposition often alleges that the Haryana government gives relief to Ram Rahim only around the elections. The answer from the government and jail officials is the same old, everything is being done as per the law and rules. This time also the administration has called it a routine process.
Ram Rahim got parole for 40 days in January 2025. Then 21 days furlough in April 2025. Even during Haryana and Delhi elections, there was a lot of uproar when he came out. If you calculate, he has been out of jail for more than 400 days in the last few years.
There is a long list of cases against Ram Rahim. In 2017, the CBI court found him guilty in the case of rape of two female monks and sentenced him to 20 years. Then in 2019, he was also convicted in the journalist Ramchandra Chhatrapati murder case. Apart from this, many other cases related to Dera are going on in different courts.
Sikh organizations and social organizations have protested against this many times. Many organizations including SGPC allege that governments take decisions after looking at the vote bank. The administration says every time that the allegations are wrong. However, during parole, the police keep an eye on what Ram Rahim is doing and whom he is meeting. But still, every time parole is granted, politics starts.
