Crime News: A dramatic and distressing incident unfolded in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, when a jilted lover set his ex-girlfriend's scooter on fire, leading to the destruction of six vehicles. The disturbing event occurred at Rajkamal Apartment in Patel Nagar, City Center, within the jurisdiction of the University Police Station.

Why did it happen?

On the night of September 7, the accused, Sanjay Kirar, a resident of Gudhi-Gudha Naka, took drastic measures after his girlfriend had blocked his phone number. Frustrated by her refusal to unblock him despite numerous pleas, Kirar decided to take revenge. He secretly entered the apartment complex and ignited the scooter parked in the parking lot.

The fire quickly engulfed the scooter and rapidly spread to six other vehicles, completely destroying them. The blaze was so intense that it threatened to extend further, but fortunately, security guards on duty acted swiftly to contain the spread and save additional vehicles.

Initial misconceptions and revelation

Initially, the incident was suspected to be caused by a short circuit due to the rapid spread of the flames. However, the true cause was revealed through CCTV footage from the parking area. The surveillance cameras captured Kirar's actions, leading to a clearer understanding of the incident.

Police response and arrest

Following the review of the CCTV footage, the police identified Kirar’s vehicle based on the number plate captured in the video. This evidence led to his prompt arrest. Gwalior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Niranjan Sharma confirmed that Kirar was detained, interrogated, and subsequently presented in court. He is now in judicial custody for 14 days while the police continue their investigation into the matter.
