Haryana Elections 2024: Congress party has raised serious concerns over the results of the Haryana elections, alleging that the victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a product of manipulation and tampering with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs). Senior Congress leaders have voiced their refusal to accept the results, calling it a "victory of manipulation" rather than a legitimate electoral win.

The controversy gained momentum after a tweet by journalist Prem Kumar, who pointed to irregularities during the counting process in Panipat. "An example of blatant fraud. Why does BJP have more votes in 99% charged EVMs?" Kumar wrote in his tweet, explaining how the first two rounds of counting proceeded smoothly. However, in the third round, six EVMs appeared with 99% charge, where the BJP reportedly had 60-70 percent more votes than in the earlier rounds. The remaining EVMs followed normal voting patterns, adding fuel to the accusations of foul play.

We cannot accept these results, says Congress

The Congress party has taken a firm stand, accusing the ruling party of rigging the results. According to them, the discrepancies observed in the EVM data suggest that the outcome was manipulated in favor of the BJP. "We cannot accept these results. This is not a victory based on the people's will but on tampered machines," a senior Congress leader stated.

BJP silent amid controversy

As of now, the BJP has not issued a formal response to the allegations of EVM tampering. However, the controversy has sparked widespread discussion about the integrity of the election process in Haryana, with many demanding a thorough investigation into the irregularities.

Call for electoral reform

Congress leaders have used this incident to renew calls for electoral reform, emphasizing the need for more transparent voting systems. With accusations of EVM tampering becoming a recurring theme in Indian elections, they argue that it is time for the Election Commission to address these concerns with more stringent safeguards.

The allegations of manipulation and EVM tampering in the Haryana election have cast a shadow over the results. As Congress continues to challenge the outcome, the debate around electoral transparency in India grows louder.
