Major Crackdown On Drug Cultivation In Kullu Hills; 61 Acres Of Illegal Cannabis Crops Destroyed

New Delhi/Kullu: Security agencies have launched a large-scale operation against illegal cannabis cultivation in the remote, high-altitude hilly regions of Himachal Pradesh's Kullu district. So far, illegal cannabis crops spanning over 61 acres have been destroyed during the ongoing campaign.

This joint operation is being conducted by teams from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), the Himachal Pradesh Police, and the State Forest Department. Teams comprising security forces and relevant departments are carrying out operations amidst challenging geographical conditions in these rugged, mountainous areas.

During the campaign, areas under illegal cultivation are being geo-tagged. Additionally, the operations are being documented through photography and videography to ensure transparency throughout the process. Legal action, in accordance with the law, will be taken against individuals identified as being involved in this illegal cultivation.

This action is a step towards curbing narcotics at the source, in line with the Narcotics Control Vision Document 2026-29. Emphasis is being placed on advancing the goal of a 'Drug-Free India' by eradicating illegal narcotic crops through the coordinated efforts of central and state agencies.
