Bihar elections: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of 71 candidates for the Bihar Assembly elections. The release of the list has sparked renewed revolt within the party. Following the denial of the ticket to Ramsurat Rai, the current MLA and former minister from Muzaffarpur's Aurai Assembly seat, supporters staged a massive protest at the BJP state office in Patna. During the protest, the MLA's supporters chanted, "Give ticket to Ramsurat Rai!" and demanded the party leadership reconsider the decision.

Ramsurat Rai Voices Anger Online

Ramsurat Rai expressed his displeasure in a lengthy post on social media. He stated that he had won the 2020 assembly elections by over 48,000 votes, the largest margin in Bihar. During his five-year tenure, he carried out significant development work in Aurai, including roads, bridges, and electricity.

Despite this, his ticket was cancelled and given to Ajay Nishad's wife, who contested the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket and lost. Ramsurat Rai said that promoting such opportunistic leaders is disappointing for dedicated BJP workers.
