A harrowing crime has emerged from Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, where a woman allegedly killed her two children to protect her relationship with her lover. The accused, identified as Sonam, had defied her family and religious norms to marry a Muslim man named Sahil. However, Sahil was later jailed for murder, leaving Sonam alone. During his imprisonment, she developed a relationship with another man, Sonu, with whom she began living and even had a child.A twisted tale of relationships and betrayalAccording to police, Sonam married Sahil from Pilkhuwa, Hapur, against her familys wishes, severing ties with them. The couple had two children—a six-year-old daughter and a four-year-old son. In 2021, Sahil was arrested for committing a murder and sent to prison.Left to fend for herself, Sonam grew close to Sonu, a resident of Kheda Dharmpura village. The two began a live-in relationship, and Sonam gave birth to a child with Sonu. However, the situation took a grim turn when Sahil was released from jail.Fear leads to a tragic decisionSonam confessed to police that Sahil called her after his release, informing her of his freedom. Terrified that Sahil might harm her and her children if he discovered her relationship with Sonu, Sonam took a drastic step. She strangled her two children from her marriage to Sahil.Police intervention prevents suicideAfter killing her children, Sonam attempted to end her own life. However, neighbours alerted the police, who intervened in time and arrested her before she could carry out her suicide.The police have confirmed Sonams confession and are investigating the case further.
