National News: The atmosphere suddenly became tense about a social media post in Jogbani in Araria district on Friday. According to the information, a young man shared a post written on social media. After this, another young man made objectionable remarks on that post. On seeing this, the matter spread rapidly and resentment spread among the people. On receiving information about the incident, the locals took a large number of roads and started protesting.
The dispute erupted over religious sentiments between two different communities. People of one community were considering the 'I Love Mohammed' post as normal, but when a young man made objectionable remarks on it, the matter became sensitive. This comment was considered as hurting religious sentiments. After this, anger spread among the people and they started protesting on the road demanding immediate action against the accused.
After the dispute escalated, there was an atmosphere of tension in the Jogbani market. The angry people closed the shops and took out a procession shouting slogans. After this, the protesters reached the police station and demanded strict action against the accused youth. In view of the situation, senior police and administration officials reached the spot and tried to calm the people.
The protesters clearly stated that the movement will continue until strict action is taken against the accused youth. After negotiating and persuading for a long time, people ended the agitation on the assurance of the administration and the shops were reopened.
In view of the tense atmosphere, the administration temporarily closed the Indo-Nepal border post. The situation was considered more serious due to Jogbani being a border area. Additional police forces and paramilitary forces have been deployed at the border post. Police say an FIR has been registered in this case and continuous raids are being conducted in search of the accused youth. Patrolling has also been increased in the surrounding areas to prevent any untoward incident.
The entire incident came to light at a time when Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a visit to Bihar. In view of Shah's arrival, security agencies were already on alert. On receiving the news of tension in Jogbani, senior officials instructed the team to monitor the situation closely and send additional forces to deal with any untoward incident.
The administration says that the situation is completely under control. Strict action will be taken against those who spread rumors. At the same time, the authorities have appealed to the people to maintain peace and ignore any kind of misleading news. Both the police and the administration say that the matter is being taken seriously and the accused will soon be arrested and handed over to the law.
