UP: Divya Mittal, the famous IAS officer of 2013 batch of Uttar Pradesh cadre, resigned from her post on Sunday. She was currently serving as special secretary in the revenue department. She informed about her decision by sharing a long post on social media.
Divya Mittal wrote that she has voluntarily resigned from the post of IAS, ending her unforgettable journey of 13 years. Recalling her journey, she said that today her eyes are moist with gratitude, but the dream that inspired her to move forward still remains.
In her social media post, Divya Mittal, instead of giving detailed reasons for her decision, shared her 13-year journey and the memories related to it. She said that despite growing up in a simple environment, she had dreamt of a good and successful life.
After completing her studies from IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore, she got a job in London. However, while living abroad she continued to feel incomplete being away from her country. This feeling inspired him to return to India and join the civil service.
Divya Mittal worked abroad after completing her studies. Later she and her husband Gagandeep Singh decided to leave their jobs in London and return to India.
According to available information, she was selected for IPS in Gujarat cadre in 2012. After this, in 2013, she became IAS and started serving in Uttar Pradesh cadre.
Divya Mittal has also held the post of District Magistrate in Mirzapur and Deoria. During her tenure in Mirzapur, she came into limelight for many works.
She described working on issues like providing water to farmers, respect for the disabled and land rights as a satisfying experience for her. She also counted providing water to Lahuriyadah village as one of the important achievements of her tenure.
Divya Mittal got an emotional farewell from the people during her transfer from the post of DM of Mirzapur in 2022. In her support, people sent her off by showering flowers.
The video of her dancing with a girl during the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 also went viral on social media. For these reasons she became very popular among the common people also.
In her post, Divya Mittal recalled the experiences related to her administrative journey. She wrote that Deoria taught her the duty to stand up for what is right, while Mirzapur made her understand that 'impossible' is often just an opinion.
Referring to Mother Vindhyavasini, she said that there she learnt that real power does not lie in any position, but in the trust of the people.
Her resignation from the post of IAS after 13 years of service has now become a topic of discussion. However, in her post she has made it clear that she is leaving the post behind, but her dream from the soil of the country is not over.
