New Delhi: Monsoon has been fully active all over the country and heavy rains have caused havoc in many states. A fresh spell of heavy rain on Thursday has brought large parts of the National Capital Region to a standstill. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued red alert for Delhi and an orange alert for Gurugram and Faridabad.
Many places of Delhi, Noida and Gurugram are flooded with water due to rains. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of a red alert in various parts of the country, including Delhi, Haryana, Maharashtra and Gujarat due to the worsening weather conditions.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Delhi, and adjoining Haryana region due to the heavy rain. Heavy rain is expected with strong winds (40-60 kmph) in the next 24-48 hours, the weather department said. The rain also has been causing waterlogging and traffic jams in the Delhi-NCR area.
In Gurugram, traffic slowed on the road from Hero Honda Chowk to Subhash Chowk. The ITO, Anand Vihar, Karol Bagh, Connaught Place, Rajiv Chowk, Botanical Garden, and DND flyover were the places most impacted by the traffic disturbances in Delhi. Morning commuters were affected by the water logging.
Heavy monsoon rains have brought Cyber City, adjacent to the national capital, Delhi, to a standstill. Roads have turned into rivers, leaving cars stranded. Gurugram, like every year, is facing the same situation this year. Several regions in Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, Ghaziabad and the national capital Delhi have been afflicted by waterlogging. This has adversely affected traffic and traffic movement.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also predicted thunderstorms and high-speed winds in Delhi-NCR on July 9. Wind speeds could reach 30-50 kilometers per hour. The IMD has issued a yellow alert in Delhi and a red alert in some areas.
The Municipal Corporation has proved itself to be unready for the first big monsoon rain in Ghaziabad. The monsoon rains have exposed the claims by the Municipal Corporation, which stated that it is cleaning the drains and trying to reduce the waterlogging problems before the onset of the monsoon.
The main road that joins the railway station to Noida, Trans Hindon and Indirapuram is in shambles. The road is flooded and cars are submerged in the water. This busy route, used daily by thousands of people, was submerged in just a short period of rain. Vehicles were seen crawling, while pedestrians also faced significant difficulties.
The IMD has also issued a 'red alert' (warning of heavy to very heavy rain) for Delhi, Haryana and many other areas of North India.
