IMD Alerts Delhi-NCR, UP, Bihar and Several Other States (Wikipedia)
New Delhi: Monsoon is once again going to show its fierce form across the country. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has today issued a major warning of heavy rain, thunderstorms and storms for 23 states. The weather will be completely bad from Delhi-NCR to UP, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Jammu and Kashmir. There will be torrential rains in many areas and winds will blow at a speed of 80 kilometres per hour. The Meteorological Department has appealed to the people to leave their homes less during bad weather and stay in a safe place.
The same situation is going to happen again in Delhi-NCR today as it happened on Monday. According to the Meteorological Department, there will be heavy rain in Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad and Gurugram along with wind speed of 40 kilometres per hour. In the last rain itself, many areas were knee-deep in water and flights were cancelled. Even today, if there is heavy rain, it is certain that there will be waterlogging and long traffic jams on underpasses, low lying areas and office roads.
There is a big alert in Uttar Pradesh this time. The weather may worsen in about 28 districts. This includes Ambedkar Nagar, Amethi, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Baghpat, Ballia, Banda, Basti, Chandauli, Chitrakoot, Deoria, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hamirpur, Jaunpur, Jhansi, Kushinagar, Mahoba, Mau, Meerut, Muzaffarnagar, Pratapgarh, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shamli, Sultanpur and Varanasi. These districts cover 65 km. The storm may blow at a speed of one hour. Farmers and travellers have been asked to take special precautions.
The situation in Bihar may be the worst. There will be heavy rains with strong thunderstorms in Purnia, Jehanabad, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Vaishali, Lakhisarai, Madhubani, Kishanganj, Begusarai, Siwan and Buxar. Here the wind speed can reach 80 kilometres per hour. It has been advised to stay away from open tin sheds, trees and electric poles.
There will be heavy to very heavy rain in Chhatarpur, Datia, Gwalior, Niwari, Panna, Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli and Tikamgarh of Madhya Pradesh. Continuous rains can create flood-like conditions in low-lying areas. There is also an alert of heavy rains and storms in Rajasthan's Churu, Pali, Baran, Rajsamand, Udaipur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Sriganganagar, Karauli, Deeg, Jhalawar, Chittorgarh, Balotra, Kota, Hanumangarh and Bharatpur.
Uttarakhand's Bageshwar, Champawat, Dehradun, There will be heavy rain in Pithoragarh, Rishikesh, Haridwar and Tehri Garhwal. Heavy rain is also expected in Solan, Kangra, Una, Lahaul-Spiti, Mandi, Kullu and Bilaspur of Himachal. There will also be rain with storms in Jammu, Kishtwar, Udhampur, Srinagar, Budgam, Anantnag and Baramulla of Jammu and Kashmir. There is a danger of landslides and road closure in the mountains, so it is better to postpone the trip.
