Independence Day 2026: Guests Reach Red Fort Before Dawn, Heavy Security In Place

New Delhi: India is celebrating its 80th Independence Day today on 15 August 2026. It has been 79 years since the country became independent and there is an atmosphere of celebration across the country on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of independence. 

There is special enthusiasm among the people regarding the programme to be held at the Red Fort. Even before the morning, a large number of people started arriving to participate in the programme. On normal days, when there is silence on the streets of Delhi, long queues of people are seen outside the Red Fort.

How is the atmosphere at the Red Fort since morning?

On the occasion of Independence Day, the entire area of ​​Red Fort is seen in patriotic colors. People are moving towards the venue with the tricolor in their hands. Slogans of Bharat Mata Ki Jai and Vande Mataram are being heard all around.

The Red Fort has also been specially decorated for the Independence Day celebrations. The entire complex has become the center of attraction with the tricolor and decorations. People from different parts of the country have reached Delhi to witness this historic ceremony.

Will Prime Minister Narendra Modi lead the ceremony?

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the tricolor from the ramparts of the Red Fort and then address the nation. This will be PM Modi's 13th address from the Red Fort on Independence Day.

In this year's celebrations, the completion of 150 years of 'Vande Mataram' is being specially remembered. Along with this, the program will also focus on the goal of Developed India 2047 and the role of youth in the development of the country.

Will a collective singing of 'Vande Mataram' be held at the Red Fort?

This time a special change will be seen in the Independence Day celebrations. For the first time, collective singing of 'Vande Mataram' will be done on the ramparts of the Red Fort.

During the flag hoisting, the army band will play 'Vande Mataram' and the people present at the ceremony will sing the national anthem together. After this there will be national anthem. This event is being linked to the historical legacy of the national anthem.

What arrangements have been made for security?

In view of Independence Day, security arrangements have been tightened in Delhi. A large number of Delhi Police and Central Security Forces personnel are deployed in and around the Red Fort. Constant monitoring is being done in sensitive areas and vehicles coming and going are also being checked.

Security agencies are fully alert to prevent any kind of disturbance. A special security cordon has been created around the Red Fort.

Will there be strictness on the borders of Delhi also?

In view of the Independence Day celebrations, security has also been increased on the borders of Delhi. Movement of heavy and commercial vehicles has been banned, while vehicles connected to private and essential services are being allowed to enter as per the prescribed rules.

Delhi Police has appealed to the people to cooperate in the security arrangements and follow the instructions of the soldiers during the investigation.
