PM Modi congratulates Trump and Netanyahu on Gaza peace deal: India has welcomed the agreement on the first phase of US President Donald Trump's Gaza Peace Plan. Under this agreement, Israel and Hamas have announced a ceasefire in Gaza.

After the announcement, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke over the telephone with President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday. Modi appreciated and congratulated both the leaders for their efforts to reach a consensus on the Gaza peace agreement. According to sources, in his conversation with President Trump, Prime Minister Modi discussed bilateral issues, especially the ongoing talks regarding the India-US trade agreement.

PM Modi Congratulates Trump

PM Modi wrote on the social media platform Instagram, "Spoke to my friend Donald Trump and congratulated him on the success of the historic Gaza Peace Plan. We also reviewed the good progress made in the trade talks. We will remain in touch in the coming weeks."

This is the first time that India's top leadership has given positive signals regarding the ongoing trade talks with the US.

Also spoke with Israeli PM Netanyahu

Shortly after this, Prime Minister Modi also spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. After the conversation, he wrote on Twitter, "I called my friend Netanyahu and congratulated him on the progress of the Gaza peace plan under the leadership of President Donald Trump. We welcomed the release of hostages and the delivery of humanitarian aid to the residents of Gaza. We also reiterated that terrorism in any form and anywhere cannot be accepted."

Already Expressed Support for Peace Agreement

Prime Minister Modi had already issued a message on Instagram welcoming the Gaza Peace Agreement before these talks. He wrote, "We welcome the agreement on Phase 1 of President Trump's peace plan. It reflects PM Netanyahu's strong leadership. We are hopeful that the release of hostages and increased humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza will bring relief to them and pave the way for lasting peace."

Also spoke with Keir Starmer

On Thursday, Prime Minister Modi also met British Prime Minister Keir Starmer in Mumbai. The two leaders discussed the situation in Gaza and welcomed recent efforts to establish peace in the Middle East.

Stability in West Asia is important for India in many ways. Nearly 10 million Indians work in the region. India has strategic relations with many countries, and a large portion of its oil and gas imports come from these countries. Therefore, peace in the region is considered beneficial for India not only economically but also for diplomatic balance.
