New Delhi: The ongoing disturbances in Indigo Airlines flights for the last six days had increased the troubles of passengers across the country. Constant cancellations, delays, and congestion had brought the situation to a near standstill. In such an environment, the latest update of the airline has brought some relief. IndiGo says that it has stabilized its network to a great extent, and now 95 percent of its destination coverage has resumed.
According to the airline's statement, on Saturday Indigo flew to 135 out of 138 destinations. The company's target was to operate more than 1500 flights by the end of the day, which is considered a big step after this difficult week. Indigo again apologized and said that they understand that the passengers' anger is justified and a lot of improvement is still needed. But the company claims that it is continuously working to regain the trust of passengers.
Friday was the most difficult day for IndiGo, when about one thousand flights had to be cancelled. This number was the highest during the entire crisis. The situation looked a little better on Saturday. The airline operated more than 700 flights connecting 113 destinations. According to the company spokesperson, the entire focus was on resetting the network and roster so that further operations can be smooth. He says that now the situation has started improving at the initial level.
Crowds reduced at some airports, but the situation was not the same everywhere. Many passengers in Bengaluru and Mumbai appeared angry with the airline and gathered outside the airport. His biggest complaint was that the reason for the cancellation of flights for five consecutive days was not being explained clearly, nor were alternatives available on time.
Meanwhile, the Civil Aviation Ministry has given strict instructions to Indigo. The ministry has said that the refund process of all canceled flights should be completed by Sunday evening. Passengers whose luggage is left behind should have it returned within two days. If this does not happen, then action can be taken against the airline.
Indigo said in its statement that all matters related to refunds are being given priority and the team is working continuously. The company says that it is trying its best to normalize the situation and reduce the problems of passengers.
This entire crisis also showed that even a small glitch in the operations of a major airline in India can affect millions of passengers. There is now pressure on IndiGo to not only get the flights back on track but also to rebuild the trust.
