Jantar Mantar Protest: PM Modi Delivers Late-night Video Message For Protesting Students, Promises Stricter Action Regarding Paper Leak

New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing protests at Jantar Mantar, Prime Minister Modi released a video message late at night. PM Modi stated that paper leaks are not a trivial matter. He clearly affirmed that even more significant and stringent action would be taken in this regard. Posting on the social media platform X, he added that the Cabinet would discuss further strict measures against paper leaks tomorrow.

What did PM Modi say?

Addressing the students, Prime Minister Modi said, "Friends, paper leaks are not a trivial matter. They cause immense distress to lakhs of students and their parents." He noted that following the paper leak incidents over the past two and a half months, the government has taken several steps, and the guilty have been arrested and jailed.

He stated that the government's primary responsibility was to ensure that the students did not lose a year of their academic lives. Consequently, arrangements were made to conduct exams for approximately 22 lakh students in the shortest possible time. The Prime Minister mentioned that the exam results were released on the 19th, and news of successful students celebrating is pouring in from across the country.

Proposal for Fast-Track Courts and Stricter Punishments?

PM Modi remarked, "The government is not going to be satisfied with just these actions." He revealed that he had instructed the relevant departments earlier in the day to establish fast-track courts for paper leak cases. Working diligently, the departments prepared the draft and submitted it to him late at night.

The Prime Minister stated that the proposal includes provisions for fast-track courts and stricter penalties for the guilty. The Cabinet will discuss this draft on Friday, and it will be finalized after incorporating suggestions from the ministers. He noted that the second week of the parliamentary session begins on Monday, and the government will strive to have this bill passed in the House as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the central government has made a significant change regarding the post of Secretary of the Department of Higher Education. Senior IAS officer Vineet Joshi has been transferred from the post of Secretary, Department of Higher Education, and appointed as Secretary of the Ministry of Panchayati Raj. Naresh Pal Gangwar has been appointed as the new Secretary of the Department of Higher Education in his place.
