JMM Issues Ultimatum in Bihar Elections: Preparations for the Bihar Assembly elections have now reached Jharkhand. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren's party, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), has issued a stern ultimatum to the Grand Alliance (Grand Alliance), the INDIA bloc. Senior party leader Supriyo Bhattacharya said on Saturday that if a respectable agreement on seat sharing is not reached by October 14th, the JMM will formulate its election strategy based on its own decision.

Supriyo Bhattacharya stated that the party wants to contest at least 12 assembly seats in Bihar. He said, "During the alliance in Jharkhand, Congress, RJD, and CPI(ML) were given respectable seats. Now, we want the same respect in Bihar. If this does not happen, we will take an independent decision at the JMM Central Committee meeting to be held on October 15th."

Bhattacharya clearly stated that the JMM is not anyone's B-team. The party has its own organizational strength and support base. The JMM is certainly part of the INDIA alliance, but if injustice is done to it, the party will not remain silent. The JMM is an independent political party and is capable of contesting elections, especially against the BJP.

Increased tensions within the Grand Alliance

JMM's attitude has increased the uneasiness within the Grand Alliance in Bihar. There was already a dispute going on regarding seat sharing between RJD, Congress, CPI(ML), and other small parties. JMM's ultimatum has raised questions on the unity of the alliance.

Now eyes are on how RJD and Congress will accommodate JMM in seat sharing till October 14. If the talks fail, JMM may contest elections in Bihar with a different strategy, which may cause a major blow to opposition unity.
