New Delhi: There was a massive fight between student organizations in Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Sunday night. As per the reports, students with leftist ideology attacked ABVP students with weapons, iron rods and sticks. Many students were injured, the condition of some of them is said to be critical. There was an atmosphere of fear in the entire campus, and a round of allegations and counter-allegations began.
ABVP's JNU Joint Secretary Vaibhav Meena said angrily, "The leftists were calling the strike for the last 7-8 days. They spread terror throughout the night. They entered the schools, a mob of 300-400 masked people chased away the students studying in the study rooms. Our colleague Vijay was lynched by 100-150 people. Delhi Police was on the spot, but they did nothing. We are proud of it." Strongly condemn."
ABVP's media convener Vijay Jaiswal also alleged, "These Left people were protesting for 7 days, but today they targeted ABVP workers and common students. About 100-150 people together did a mob lynching. Delhi Police and JNU security guards were also present, but no one took any action. All this was planned in advance. There were masked people. We demand that JNU administration should take strict action against all these."
According to the information, left groups were on strike and protesting on the campus for the last several days. ABVP says that students who were studying peacefully in the study room were targeted. On the other hand, no official statement has come from the left groups yet, but in such clashes, allegations keep coming from both sides.
The injured have been sent for treatment. ABVP has demanded immediate action from Delhi Police and JNU Administration. Tension still remains on the campus, and there is an atmosphere of fear among the students. It remains to be seen what action the administration takes, and whether this matter reaches FIR or investigation.
Politics is always heated in a campus like JNU, but this time everyone is shocked to see so much violence in the dark of night. Hopefully peace is restored soon and the study environment returns.
