New Delhi: Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi is making headlines again. Earlier, there were issues over hostel food, disputes about Durga idol immersion, and even fights during student meetings. Now, a new controversy has started after “I Love Mohammad” was found written on several hostel walls, along with posters carrying the same message in different places on campus.
It is important to note that the JNU student union elections are scheduled for November 4, 2025. Incidents like this could increase tensions and controversies just before the elections. Many fear that such acts might influence the mood of students or become a tool for political polarization on campus.
According to sources, the security guards on campus have removed the posters and writings from the walls. However, it is still unclear who wrote “I Love Mohammad” and what the motive behind it was. The administration is yet to confirm any leads regarding the responsible parties.
In this case, ABVP and left-wing student organizations are blaming each other. JNU Student Union General Secretary Vaibhav Meena has filed an official complaint with the administration and requested an investigation. Despite this, no clear answers have emerged about who wrote the phrase or why.
Both ABVP and left-wing students accuse each other of trying to polarize votes ahead of the elections due to fear of losing. Whatever the truth may be, it is clear that controversy seems to follow JNU, and the campus continues to be a hotspot for political disputes.
