The Karnataka Lokayukta has conducted a fresh round of raids across the state to check if government officials have more property and money than they should legally have.
Officials searched the home of Jayanna, who is the Executive Engineer at the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) in Hassan. Another raid was carried out at the home of N. Venkatesh, a Revenue Officer with the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) in Bengaluru. These actions are part of an ongoing effort, as similar raids took place in different parts of the state last week.
On July 23, Sunil Kumar, an executive engineer with the Health and Family Welfare Department, had his home and office in Kalaburagi searched. Sunil Kumar lives in Hallikheda B village in Humnabad taluk, Bidar district. Lokayukta teams are currently checking the papers and files they found during the search.
In another case, officials discovered cash, gold, watches, and other items at the house of Maruthi Bagli, who works as an Assistant Director in the Town and Country Planning Department in Bidar. This raid was carried out by Deputy Superintendent of Police Hanumantharai. Last month, Lokayukta officials also raided seven properties linked to a Circle Police Inspector named DB Patil from the Gadag Town Police Station. These properties were located in Gadag, Bagalkot, Jamkhandi, and Kerur. The raids came after complaints that he owned assets that did not match his official income.
This large-scale operation was led by Inspector Parashuram Kavatagi and supervised by DySP Pushpalatha and Officer P.S. Patil. The team checked documents, cash, and property papers during the searches. Additionally, the Lokayukta searched the home of an Assistant Government Officer (AGO) in Shivamogga. The officer is now under investigation in a case filed as Shivamogga Crime No. 9/25. His house was also searched for signs of extra income or property not declared officially.
