Kolkata Gangrape Case: Victim Records Statement, Alleges Assault by Three Students in Guardroom

National News: A shocking case of alleged gang rape has surfaced at one of Kolkata’s prestigious law colleges, where a 24-year-old female student was reportedly assaulted inside the campus on the night of Wednesday, May 25. The victim recorded her official statement before the police on Thursday, leveling serious allegations against three male students of the institution.

Confined in Guardroom, Subjected to Sexual Assault

According to the victim, the incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. when she was leaving the campus after attending a student organization meeting. She alleged that three students—identified as J, M, and P—intercepted her and forcibly dragged her into the college guardroom. While the primary accused, J, attempted to sexually assault her, the other two—M and P—allegedly supported him by locking the room and preventing her escape.

In her emotional statement to the police, the victim recounted, “I cried and pleaded with him to let me go… I even held his feet, but he refused to stop. He forcibly tried to have sex with me. I resisted and told him I was in a relationship and in love with my boyfriend.”

The survivor further stated that during the ordeal, she experienced a panic attack and began to have difficulty breathing. She alleged that the main accused then called the other two for help, but instead of intervening, they simply stood and watched. Later, M reportedly brought her an inhaler, providing her with brief relief.

Main Gate Was Locked, Security Guard Threatened

The victim claimed that she tried to flee, but the three youths caught her again. She further alleged that the college’s main gate was locked at the time, and the security personnel on duty had been intimidated and made to leave. Eventually, she was taken back to the guardroom, where J allegedly stripped her and raped her.

Police Launch Investigation, Medical Examination Conducted

Following her complaint, an FIR was registered at the local police station. The victim was sent for a medical examination, and the police have begun scanning CCTV footage from the premises. Authorities confirmed that the three accused have been identified and efforts are underway to apprehend them.

Senior police officials have assured that the victim’s statement is being treated with utmost seriousness. A thorough investigation is ongoing, and the college administration will also be questioned regarding the security lapses that allowed such a serious incident to occur within campus boundaries.
