Lucknow Conversion Racket: Over 50 Hindus Converted to Christianity via Healing Sessions

Lucknow Conversion Racket: A major case of conversion has come to light in Lucknow, UP, in which a person converted more than 50 Hindus through healing meeting. The police arrested the accused and started investigating the case. The matter has created a stir in local society and religious organizations.

Accused arrested

Malkhan, a resident of Baktauri Kheda in Nigohan region, adopted Christianity about 10 years ago and changed his name to Matthew. After that, he started organizing a Healing Meeting twice a month by building a room. In these meetings, less educated scheduled castes were called. They were given the pretense of treating arthritis, epilepsy, breath and other diseases. During the meeting, the Bible was taught, holy water sprinkled and videos were shown on the projector. During this time, people were brainwashed and instigated against Hindu deities and inspired them to adopt Christianity by luring financial help. According to the police, so far Malkhan has converted about 50 people.

Police action

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Dakshin Nipun Aggarwal, accused Malkhan was arrested on Saturday from Hulas Kheda Marg. Two Bible and promotional materials have been recovered from his house. A case has been filed against Malkhan and sent to jail. A reward of 25 thousand rupees has also been announced to the police team involved in the arrest.

Funding & investigation

Police said that Malkhan used to provide financial help to people after conversion. This raises the question as to where he was getting this funding. In this case, the police is investigating the bank accounts of Malkhan and his family so that a big network can be detected. The incident has also caused protests by Hindu organizations earlier. Now it will be clear from the police investigation that who are involved in this conversion racket and how this network was working.

The matter has raised concerns about religious and social security in Lucknow. Local administration and police say that strict action will be taken in such cases and no illegal activity will be tolerated.
