West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee while addressing a gathering in Bengal’s Jhargram on Thursday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) might increase the cost of cooking gas cylinders up to Rs 1,500-2,000 if it returns to power at the Centre.

The TMC chief claimed the party would force people again to return to collecting wood and cow dung for fire.

She also hit out at the Central government for not disbursing the funds to the state. Banerjee went on to say that if the Center does not issue funding for the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana by April 1, the state government will provide recipients with MGNREGA monies in the same manner that it does for that program.

"If by April 1, the Center does not release money for Awaas Yojana, the state government will release funds for the same, just like we are releasing MGNREGA funds for the deprived beneficiaries," stated the chief minister.

Banerjee alleged that the Left and Congress are supporting the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal and warned the public against false promises.
