New Delhi: Remembering Shaheed Bhagat Singh in the 126th episode of 'Mann Ki Baat' today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that before his execution, he had asked the British to shoot him to death. He described Bhagat Singh as an inspiration for the youth and said that his sacrifice gives courage to every Indian.
PM paid tribute to Lata Mangeshkar on her birth anniversary and said that her songs stir human emotions. People were filled with enthusiasm with patriotic songs. He said that Lata Didi used to send him Rakhi every year, and he likes the song ‘Jyoti Kalash Chalke’ very much.
Two women officers of the Navy—Lieutenant Commanders Dilna and Rupa—were praised by the PM for their courage in the Navika Sagar Parikrama. He said that these officers are living examples of women's empowerment, and the country is proud of them.
The Government of India is making efforts to include Chhath Puja in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list. The PM said that this festival is now gaining recognition at the global level. Earlier Durga Puja also got the same honor, due to which the world is connecting with our culture.
On Gandhi Jayanti on 2nd October, the PM appealed to buy Khadi products. He said that there has been a huge jump in the sales of Khadi in the last 11 years. On the centenary of RSS, the PM said that this journey is wonderful and inspiring. The volunteers of the organization that instilled self-respect during the era of slavery are the first to reach the disaster. ‘Nation First’ is his life mantra.
