New Delhi: On Monday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio made it clear that President Donald Trump is a big fan of India. He also likes PM Narendra Modi very much. Rubio said this when Trump was being accused of supporting the “Hellhole” comment about India. When the media asked Rubio about this controversy, he said that many people in the world say anything without thinking.

Later he clarified that he thought the question was on social media or general comments, not on Trump. Rubio said, "If Trump did not care about India, then why would he have given me such a big responsibility?" He took the name of American officer Sergio Gore and said that Trump wants to see stronger relations with India.

What was discussed on the India-Pakistan issue?

Rubio said that there was no discussion about Pakistan's interference or Iran war in the meeting with Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar. He said that India has always been expressing concern over terrorist organizations operating from Pakistan's soil. But this time India did not complain about Pakistan's role in the Iran crisis. According to Rubio, the issues of India and Pakistan are different, they should not be mixed.

What did Rubio say on Iran and Hormuz?

On the ongoing tension with Iran, Rubio said that efforts are being made to find a solution through talks. Some good news may come soon regarding the Strait of Hormuz. But also added that President Trump is in no hurry. America will not sign any wrong deal. Will look at our interests first, then there will be an agreement.

Will India-US relations become stronger?

Experts believe that the personal chemistry between Trump and Modi will bring the two countries closer. In the last few years, India-America friendship has strengthened significantly in defence, trade and Indo-Pacific. Trump's liking of India and Rubio's frank speaking, shows that in future both the countries will come closer in deals, arms and trade. There will be warmth in relationships.

This statement from the White House is news of relief for India. Now everyone's eyes are fixed on the Trump-Modi meeting.
