Mussoorie wasp attack: A wave of grief has swept over the small village of Tuneta after a father and son tragically lost their lives due to a severe wasp attack. The incident occurred when Sundarlal, aged 47, and his 8-year-old son Abhishek were out grazing their cows in a nearby forest. The two were suddenly swarmed and attacked by wasps, leading to fatal injuries.

Father’s brave attempt to save son

According to reports, Sundarlal attempted to shield his son from the attack by laying on top of him. However, the wasps continued their vicious assault, stinging both father and son repeatedly. Despite Sundarlal's efforts, both suffered severe injuries. Villagers who were alerted to the attack rushed to their aid, transporting them to the sub-district hospital in Mussoorie.

Efforts to save them were in vain

At the hospital, doctors did their best to treat Sundarlal and Abhishek, but the injuries sustained from the wasp stings were too severe. Tragically, both father and son succumbed to their injuries. The police have completed the necessary formalities, including the preparation of a Panchnama, and the bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination.

Relatives mourn the loss

Village head Govind Singh expressed his deep sorrow over the incident, explaining that Sundarlal was the sole breadwinner of his family. His untimely death, along with his young son’s, has left the family devastated. Singh also urged the forest department to provide the bereaved family with adequate compensation for their immense loss.

Kshetra Panchayat member Poonam echoed these sentiments, calling the incident a huge loss for the entire village. She appealed to the government to expedite the compensation process and provide financial relief to the grieving family.

Doctor's statement on the tragic outcome

Dr. K.S. Chauhan of the sub-district hospital in Mussoorie confirmed the severity of the attack. “Both victims were severely stung by wasps, and despite the best efforts of our medical team, we were unable to save them,” he stated.
