National News:Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated the manufacturing of hybrid battery electrodes at the TDS lithium-ion battery facility in Gujarat and flagged off Suzuki’s new electric SUV, the E-Vitara. With this, India has stepped into a new phase of its electric mobility mission, as the prime minister announced that EVs manufactured in the country will now be exported to 100 global markets.

PM Modi told the audience that the launch was a landmark in India’s clean energy journey and also a step forward in the India–Japan partnership. He said the occasion further reinforces the trust shared between the two nations. From today, electric vehicles carrying the tag ‘Made in India’ will reach a hundred countries. At the same time, hybrid battery electrode production is also beginning here. I extend congratulations to the people of India, to Japan, and to Suzuki for this achievement,” he noted.

Gujarat’s Role in India’s EV Journey

The Prime Minister pointed out that India’s journey in electric mobility began over a decade ago, when Suzuki was first given land in Gujarat. “In 2012, while serving as Chief Minister, I allocated land to Maruti Suzuki at Hansalpur. At that time, the idea was to drive forward the vision of a self-reliant India. That vision is now taking shape in the form of electric vehicles that will not just run on Indian roads but also travel across dozens of countries,” he said.

Modi highlighted that the progress being witnessed today is directly connected to decisions taken years ago to promote manufacturing and attract foreign investment.

‘Investors Should Compete Between States’

Calling upon Indian states to seize the global opportunity, the prime minister urged them to compete positively to attract investments. “The world’s eyes are on India today. No state should lag behind. Investors should find it difficult to decide which state to choose because every state is offering opportunities and growth,” he remarked.

He invited states to race in reforms, adopt people-friendly policies, and enhance governance. “Let every state contribute to the national goal of making India a developed country by 2047. This spirit of competition will accelerate reforms and bring wider benefits for the people,” Modi added.

India–Japan Cooperation: A Model of Global Trust

Modi also underlined how India’s strengths—its democracy, demographic dividend, and skilled workforce—make the country an attractive hub for global investors. “India’s combination of democratic values, young manpower, and skills creates a win-win situation for every partner. At present, Suzuki Japan manufactures vehicles in India and then ships them back to its home country. This is proof of the deep trust between our two countries and of the growing global confidence in India’s capabilities,” he said.

A Step Toward Clean Energy Future

The launch of hybrid battery electrode production alongside the rollout of Suzuki’s E-Vitara is seen as a significant boost to India’s electric vehicle ecosystem. Industry experts believe the move will strengthen domestic EV manufacturing, create jobs, and establish India as a serious contender in the global green mobility race.

By aligning Make in India with clean technology, the government aims to not only meet domestic demand but also emerge as an exporter of next-generation vehicles and battery technologies.
