A government school teacher in Bihar has been arrested after an FIR was lodged against him for telling children during his lecture in the classroom, "Nobody should vote for Modi."

Action initiated

District Education Officer Ajay Kumar Singh said that the teacher Harendra Rajak's conduct was brought to their notice when the family members of the children studying in the government secondary school at Amrakh in Kurhani block of Muzaffarpur reported the incident.

According to the police, teacher Harendra Rajak was arrested for violating the code of conduct. The moral code of conduct forbids government employees from trying to influence the poll outcome either by speaking for or against any political party.

Why did the teacher make such statement?

The teacher told the children that nobody should vote for Modi since food grains provided under the free ration schemes are of substandard quality, and unfit for human consumption. This information was shared by the students who narrated the ordeal to their parents.
