New Delhi: The wait of almost 24 years is now going to end. Noida International Airport built in Jewar is now going to formally open on Saturday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate its first phase, with which this much-awaited project will become a reality.

What is the complete program of the Prime Minister?

The Prime Minister will reach the airport at around 11:30 am. After inspecting the terminal building there, he will inaugurate it at around 12 noon. After this there will be a big public meeting, in which about 2 lakh people are likely to participate.

What special preparations have been made regarding security?

The entire area has been kept under tight security cordon. CISF, PAC, RAF and ATS teams are deployed with SPG. About 5 thousand policemen will be on duty. Anti-drone system has also been activated and CCTV control room has been made to keep an eye on every activity.

What arrangements are there to handle crowd and traffic?

Keeping in view the large number of people attending the program, the administration has made advance planning. 15 parking spaces have been earmarked for about 20 thousand vehicles. All the arrangements were tested by doing a mock drill a day before.

What are the main facilities of the airport?

Initially, it will have the capacity to handle about 1.2 crore passengers every year, which can be further increased to 7 crore. A 3,900-meter-long runway has been built here, where big planes can take off easily. With the help of modern navigation system and lighting, flight operations will be possible 24 hours in all weather conditions. Besides, it is also being developed as a big cargo hub.

Will this prove to be a game-changer for NCR?

It is believed that this will reduce the increasing pressure at Delhi Airport. Apart from this, trade, employment and connectivity will get a new impetus in Uttar Pradesh and the entire NCR. Connectivity by road, rail and metro will make it stronger.

What does this opening mean?

This is not just the inauguration of an airport, but is being considered a big step in the infrastructure of the country. With the beginning, operation of domestic and international flights will gradually start here, which will provide a new and better option to the passengers.
