Delhi: There is a threat of a cyclonic storm in Odisha due to the low pressure forming in the Bay of Bengal, in view of which the disaster management teams of the state are on high alert. According to the Meteorological Department, this system can bring heavy rains in Odisha from October 27, while it is likely to hit the coast on October 22 or 29.
The impact of the storm will not be limited to Odisha only, but there is a possibility of heavy rain in Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal for the next three days. Scattered rain may start in South 24 Parganas and the East and West Medinipur districts of West Bengal from Sunday. A warning has been issued to fishermen not to go into the sea from October 26.
The state government has made complete preparations to deal with the cyclone. Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said that the health, water resources, energy, and agriculture departments are fully prepared. Relief centers, evacuation, and essential supplies have been arranged in sensitive areas. Telling people there is no need to panic, he assured them that Odisha is capable of dealing with such natural disasters.
At the same time, the effect of cold has started increasing in Delhi. The minimum temperature recorded on Saturday was 16.9 degrees Celsius, which is 0.3 degrees below normal. The maximum temperature was 32 degrees. However, the air quality remains in the poor category. The AQI stood at 292 at 4 pm, which is more than 275 on Friday. The Meteorological Department has predicted light fog on Sunday morning and a partly cloudy sky in the evening. The maximum temperature can be around 31, and the minimum is 17 degrees.
