‘Operation Gang Bust’: Delhi Police Arrest Over 500 Gangsters in 48-Hour Crackdown (X@DelhiPolice)
New Delhi: Delhi Police has launched the most comprehensive operation ever against gangs and organized crime operating in the capital. More than 500 criminals were arrested in this 48-hour-long operation named ‘Operation Gang Bust.’ According to the police, this campaign was conducted simultaneously in several districts so that the gang network could be broken from its roots. This strict step was considered necessary in view of the increase in violent incidents and incidents of gang war in recent months.
Police officials say that there was a rise in gang-related crimes in the capital. Cases of extortion, firing, and threats had increased. In such a situation, a decision was taken to take action simultaneously on a large scale.
The operation was carried out simultaneously in several districts of Delhi. Special monitoring was kept on sensitive areas and crime hotspots. Raids were conducted at the hideouts of gang members.
According to the police, the accused, who is wanted in cases related to murder, attempted murder, robbery, extortion, and illegal weapons, was caught. Many criminals who had been absconding for a long time were also arrested.
The entire operation was monitored by senior police officers. District level and special units were instructed to work together. Special emphasis was laid on speed and coordination.
Delhi Police says that the purpose of this action is not just arrest. The police want to send the message that there is no place for gangs and organized crime in the capital.
Before this operation, the Special Cell of Delhi Police had caught three shooters of the Himanshu Bhau gang. This arrest was made in the case of an attempt to murder in the Bawana area.
Police recovered a modern pistol and live cartridges from the accused. Apart from this, a stolen motorcycle was also seized. Investigation revealed that this attack was carried out due to personal rivalry. The gang leader had given instructions for the attack from abroad. Its purpose was to take revenge for an old murder case.
According to the police, the accused first conducted a reconnaissance of the area. Then the victim's scooter was deliberately hit. After this, firing was done on him, although he survived.
After receiving information about the presence of gang members in the Rohini area, the police laid a trap. After this, three accused were arrested.
Delhi Police says that action against gangs and organized crime will continue in the future also. If necessary, similar big campaigns will be run again. Delhi Police believes that 'Operation Gang Bust' will impact crime in the capital and weaken gang networks.
