Operation Sindoor
National News: Operation Sindoor Masood Azhar: India has taken revenge of the Pahalgam terror attack from terrorists after 15 days. The Indian Army razed the Bahawalpur training center in Punjab, Pakistan. The master of the terrorists used to run the training center from here. The notorious terrorist Masood Azhar had established it. He was also behind the terrorist attack on Parliament. The Indian Army carried out attacks on terrorist hideouts in Pakistan throughout the night. In this, major hideouts in Kotli, Muridke and Bahawalpur were targeted. The mosque in Bahawalpur which has been blown up by the army was often used by terrorist Masood Azhar to spend the night there.
Pakistan has confirmed attacks on nine targets in these areas. The primary objective of this attack, known as Operation Sindoor, was to destroy the jihadi infrastructure of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) and Lashkar-e-Taiba. These are the two terrorist groups responsible for many major attacks on Indian soil in the last three decades. It is being claimed that Masood Azhar has also been killed in this attack.
Masood Azhar was hiding for many months. He came out of his hole in the last months of last year 2024. Then he was seen in Bahawalpur. It is suspected that Masood Azhar was killed in an attack by the Indian military. No official confirmation of any kind has come so far.
Bahawalpur, Pakistan's 12th largest city, serves as the hub of operations for Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), one of the most notorious terrorist organisations operating in the region. The group's primary base of operations is the Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah complex in Bahawalpur, also known as the Usman-o-Ali complex, located around 400 km from Lahore.
Jamia Masjid Subhan Allah, a sprawling complex spread over 18 acres, was one of the key sites targeted by the Indian Army during Operation Sindoor. The complex is not only a religious site but also serves as the central location for Jaish-e-Mohammed's recruitment, fundraising and ideological indoctrination activities. The complex has long been a strategic asset for the organisation, aiding in its operations and ideological influence.
Bahawalpur also holds significance as it is the birthplace and residence of Jaish-e-Mohammed founder Maulana Masood Azhar. Azhar, who has played a key role in plotting several high-profile attacks on Indian soil, lives in a heavily guarded compound in the city. His presence in Bahawalpur underlines the city's deep association with Jaish-e-Mohammed's operations and its leadership's personal ties with the region.
