Mansoon Session begins (Social Media)
National News: India’s Parliament launched its monsoon session today, which will continue over the next 32 days, wrapping up on 21 August 2025. A total of 21 sittings are on the calendar. There will be a pause in proceedings on 14 and 15 August in observance of Independence Day.
The day began with the national anthem in both houses, followed by a moment of tribute for those who lost their lives in the Pahalgam terrorist incident and the Ahmedabad aircraft accident. Soon after, opposition parties erupted in protest, disrupting the session and prompting the Lok Sabha to be adjourned until noon.
Addressing the media prior to the session, Prime Minister Narendra Modi referred to the monsoon session as a time to celebrate recent national achievements. He praised the efficiency of Operation Sindoor, saying:
“In just 22 minutes, our forces successfully targeted and dismantled key terror sites. The global community is increasingly taking interest in India’s self-reliant defense production and capabilities.”
Modi also highlighted the season's economic significance, calling the monsoon a symbol of revitalization and noting that favorable rainfall is boosting agricultural prospects and strengthening the rural economy.
