Supreme Court on Thursday granted interim bail to Congress leader Pawan Khera. The Congress had approached the Supreme Court after Pawan Kheda was arrested by the Assam Police at Delhi airport and issued the notice to Assam and UP police for clubbing of FIRs.

Pawan Kheda had boarded the Indigo flight 6E-204 and was scheduled to attend the Congress meeting in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, but was later removed from the flight due to luggage checking. After that, in the midst of a protracted high-voltage drama, the Delhi police detained him.

Delhi Police said that the request was received from Assam Police for assistance in arrest of accused Pawan Kheda in case FIR filed in District Haflong, Assam.

Senior Counsel AM Singhvi mentioned a motion informing the court of Pawan Kheda’s detention following his arrest. Since that numerous FIRs have been filed against Pawan Khera across the nation, Singhvi requested interim relief for him as well as the consolidation of FIRs.

After hearing the case in the court, the Supreme Court ordered to grant him interim bail, and said that there can be no arrest of Pawan Kheda till Tuesday. The court also issues warning to Pawan Kheda not to make any statements.

The court has said that they cannot order the cancellation of the FIR, but the court has ordered the transfer and clubbing of all registered FIRs against him. A notice has also been issued against the Uttar Pradesh and Assam Police. Three FIRs have been registered against Pawan Kheda and now all three FIRs will be heard at one place.

Why was Pawan Kheda arrested?

Pawan Kheda had given a controversial statement on PM Modi during a press conference over the Adani-Hindenburg row in the past, after which BJP workers lodged a complaint against him in Lucknow. At the same time, this matter is now being linked to it. After being stopped from going to Raipur, Pawan Kheda and other Congress workers along with him sat on a dharna at the airport itself. On the other hand, the Congress has called it the dictatorship of the Bharatiya Janata Party.

In all this, Pawan Kheda said, “I have been waiting for a long time. I was told the problem with the luggage while I have only one handbag. When I came down from the plane, I was told that I cannot go to Raipur now. Now I have been waiting for a long time and I haven’t even committed any rule violation.”

After this matter came in to light, Twitter handle of the Congress party was flooded with tweets, they said, “First the ED is sent to Chhattisgarh and now Congress leader Pawan Kheda, who is coming to Raipur, is stopped from boarding the flight. This dictatorship will not work. We will fight against this and win.”

Congress is constantly attacking the BJP government at the center. Congress has alleged that BJP wants to disrupt their national convention. This only shows their dictatorship, but we will continue to fight for the countrymen.

BJP hits back on Congress after the arrest of Pawan Kheda

BJP hit back at the Congress for protesting police action against its spokesperson Pawan Khera, they said that the opposition party’s leaders must not live in the misconception that they are above the law and criticised them for their agitation on the Delhi airport.

He said after using derogatory words against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his family members, Congress is playing the ‘victim card’.

In response, BJP leader said that “Prime Minister Modi has the blessings of more than 140 crore people of the country and abusing him is like digging a hole in which the Congress will fall.”
