People's Leader: PM Modi, Rahul Gandhi, NCP Members Condole Maharashtra DCM Ajit Pawar's Demise

Mumbai: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and NCP chief Ajit Pawar passed away after a fatal plane crash on January 28, in the morning hours. The tragic incident occurred when Pawar's chartered plane crashed at Baramati Airport during landing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences after the sudden demise of Ajit Pawar. 

Taking to his X, PM Modi wrote, ''Shri Ajit Pawar ji was a people's leader who had a strong bond with the people and a deep connection with the grassroots. He was widely respected as a hardworking personality who always remained at the forefront in the service of the people of Maharashtra. He had profound knowledge of administrative matters. His passion for the empowerment of the poor and the deprived was particularly noteworthy. His untimely demise is extremely shocking and deeply saddening. Heartfelt condolences to his family and countless admirers. Om Shanti.''

PM Modi in another tweet wrote, ''I am deeply saddened by the tragic plane crash that occurred in Baramati, Maharashtra. I share in the grief of all those who have lost their loved ones in this accident. I pray that the bereaved families find strength and courage in this moment of sorrow.''

President of India, Droupadi Murmu said, ''The news of the death of several people, including Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash in Baramati, Maharashtra, is extremely tragic. The untimely demise of Ajit Pawar ji is an irreparable loss. He will always be remembered for his special contribution to the development of Maharashtra, especially in the cooperative sector. I express my deep condolences to his family, supporters, and admirers. May God grant strength to the families of all others who lost their lives in this accident to bear this blow.''

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said, ''Deeply shocked and pained to learn about the untimely demise of Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Shri Ajit Pawar.''

He added, ''Throughout his long public life, he remained committed to the development and prosperity of Maharashtra. He was known for his compassion for the people and his unwavering dedication to public service. I extend my heartfelt condolences to his family, well-wishers, and admirers.''

Rahul Gandhi wrote on X, ''The news of the demise of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar Ji and his fellow travelers in an airplane accident today is extremely heartbreaking. In this moment of grief, I stand with the people of Maharashtra. I extend my condolences to the entire Pawar family and their loved ones during this hour of sorrow.''

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote on X, ''The news of the tragic demise of Shri Ajit Pawar, in a plane crash, is deeply shocking and profoundly distressing. It is an untimely loss of a leader who had a long and promising political career ahead. No words can adequately express the immense grief that the bereaved family must be enduring during this difficult hour. I extend my deepest condolences to the entire Pawar family, his supporters and well-wishers.'' 

He added, ''Having served the people of Maharashtra in various constitutional capacities, Shri Ajit Pawar shall be remembered as a seasoned politcian who discharged his responsibilities towards his people with sincerity and astuteness. May his soul rest in peace.''

Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra wrote on X, ''The news of the demise of Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar Ji and others in the horrific plane crash in Maharashtra is extremely heartbreaking. May God grant peace to the departed souls. Deepest condolences to revered Sharad Pawar Ji, Supriya Sule Ji and their entire family, and to the supporters of revered Ajit Pawar Ji.''

Commerce minister Piyush Goyal wrote, ''The news of the unfortunate demise of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Ajitdada Pawar has deeply shocked and saddened my heart. His passing has created a huge void in social, political, and public life. Ajitdada was truly a leader of the people in the real sense. An extremely studious, duty-bound, and sensitive leader who always tirelessly fought for the issues of the people of Maharashtra has been lost to us today.''

He wrote, ''His profound grip over administration, as well as his intense passion for empowering the poor, deprived, and weaker sections, was particularly noteworthy. The imprint of his work will remain forever etched not only in the political sphere but also in social life. At this extremely sorrowful moment, I express my heartfelt condolences to his family members and his countless admirers. I pray that they receive the strength to overcome this grief. May God grant his soul eternal peace. The inspiration derived from his work and thoughts will always remain with us.''

Taking to X, Union minister Nitin Gadkari wrote, ''The news of the sudden demise of Maharashtra's Deputy Chief Minister Shri Ajit Pawar ji is extremely shocking, unfortunate, and heartbreaking. My heartfelt tribute to him. Over the past many years, while working together in the state legislature, I shared an extremely close bond with Ajit dada.''

He added, ''His administrative acumen, developmental vision, and innate ability to connect with people have ensured that Ajit dada always holds an unassailable position in Maharashtra's politics. The untimely passing of this people's leader, who harbored aspirations for Maharashtra's development, is not just a loss for Maharashtra but an irreplaceable one for the entire nation. On this sorrowful occasion, my condolences are with the entire Pawar family. May God grant peace to the departed soul. Om Shanti.''
