PM Modi turns 75: Prime Minister Narendra Modi turned 75 on Wednesday, September 17. Born as Narendra Damodardas Modi on September 17, 1950, in the small town of Vadnagar (Mehsana district), Gujarat, he served as the state's Chief Minister for three consecutive terms from 2001 to 2014 and has been India's Prime Minister since 2014, now in his third term. 

Narendra Modi is regarded as one of the world’s most influential leaders. His journey from being the son of a tea seller to becoming Prime Minister is remarkable. Born into a modest family, his father, Damodardas Mulchand Modi, sold tea at a stall near the railway station, while his mother, Heeraben, managed the household. Modi has four brothers, Soma, Amrit, Prahlad and Pankaj, and a sister, Vasantiben. As a boy, he was known for his hard work, love of debates and passion for reading. He often spent hours in the local library and was also fond of swimming.
