PM Modi Dehradun Visit: Lays Foundation Stone of Projects Worth Rs 8,260 cr at Silver Jubilee Celebration of State's Formation (X @narendramodi)
Dehradun: On the occasion of Silver Jubilee Celebration of State's Formation of Uttarakhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi participated in a programme. Governor Lieutenant General (Retd.) Gurmit Singh and CM Pushkar Singh Dhami are graced the occasion.
Marking the Silver Jubilee Celebration of the formation of Uttarakhand, PM Modi inaugurated and laid the foundation stones for various development projects worth over Rs 8,140 crores, including the inauguration of projects worth over Rs 930 crores and the foundation stone laying of projects worth over Rs 7210 crores. These projects cater to several key sectors including drinking water, irrigation, technical education, energy, urban development, sports, and skill development, as per news agency ANI.
Speaking at the occasion, PM Modi said, "25 years ago, 4,000 tourists used to visit Uttarakhand in a span of 6 months by aeroplane. Today, 4,000 tourists come to Uttarakhand daily by aeroplane. In the last 25 years, the number of Engineering colleges has increased by 10 times. Earlier, there was only 1 medical college; today, there are 10 medical colleges..."
Addressing the crowd in Dehradun, PM Modi said, "...25 years ago, the budget of Uttarakhand was Rs 4,000 crore, and today it has crossed the mark of Rs 1 lakh crore. In the last 25 years, the electricity production in Uttarakhand has increased four times. In the last 25 years, the length of roads in Uttarakhand has increased twice..."
On 25th anniversary of the state, PM Modi said, "... Today, as Uttarakhand completes its 25th anniversary, my belief has become even stronger that this is a period of Uttarakhand's progress. 25 years ago, when Uttarakhand was newly formed, challenges were numerous.''
