PM Modi & French President Emmanuel Macron share a hug at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai (X: ANI)
Mumbai: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and French President Emmanuel Macron on Tuesday shared a hug as they meet at the Lok Bhavan in Mumbai, expressing confidence that the meeting will elevate India-France relations to new heights.
PM Modi met Macron at Lok Bhavan, where he is likely to discuss artificial intelligence and strategic cooperation. A key focus is expected to be a renewed push for bilateral defence cooperation, including joint manufacturing of helicopters and HAMMER precision-guided missiles.

French President Emmanuel Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron also paid floral tributes to those killed in the November 2008 terror attack at the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel in south Mumbai.

PM Narendra Modi arrived at the Maharashtra Lok Bhavan in Mumbai for his meeting with the France President.
The Governor of Maharashtra and Gujarat Acharya Devvrat welcomed the Prime Minister at Lok Bhavan, Mumbai.
The French President and the First Lady were received by Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis at the Mumbai airport.
President Macron, accompanied by First Lady Brigitte Macron, is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi later on Tuesday.
This is Macron's fourth visit to India, and his first to Mumbai. First he came in 2018, then as the chief guest of the 2023 G20 Summit and Republic Day in 2024. This time the focus is on further strengthening the strategic partnership – Macron himself wrote on X that this visit will give new heights to Indo-French relations.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening cooperation in areas including defence, trade, technology, clean energy, and strategic partnerships.
Following engagements in Mumbai, the French President and the Prime Minister will travel to New Delhi to attend the India AI Impact Summit 2026.
