PM Modi inaugurates UP's Longest 594-km-long Ganga Expressway, linking Meerut to Prayagraj (X)
Noida: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated the 594-kum Ganga Expressway, a mega infrastructure project connects Meerut to Prayagraj. This is one of the Uttar Pradesh's longest expressways and also one of India's biggest greenfield road projects. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Uttar Pradesh BJP President Pankaj Choudhary also attended the event. The high-speed corridor is expected to significantly boost connectivity across Uttar Pradesh.
Built at a total cost of around Rs 36,230 crore, the Ganga Expressway is expected to significantly reduce travel time between Meerut and Prayagraj from the current 10-12 hours to approximately 6 hours.
The new six-lane access-controlled corridor, which is also expandable to right lanes, will link Meerut to Prayagraj across 12 districts. This high-speed expressway has a design speed of 120 km per hour.
The corridor runs through Meerut, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Pratapgarh and Prayagraj.

Before the inauguration, Prime Minister Modi also planted a sapling in Hardoi.

In his address, PM Modi said it was a new lifeline for Uttar Pradesh and also talked about the Bengal Assembly elections, saying, "Today is also an important day in the celebration of democracy. The second phase of voting is currently underway in Bengal, and reports indicate a strong voter turnout."
PM Modi said that naming the expressway after Mother Ganga is a humbling experience. During the inauguration, he said, "I salute this land of Lord Narasimha. Mother Ganga flows through this land a few kilometers from here, showering her blessings, which is why this entire area is significant. I believe that this expressway gift to Uttar Pradesh is also a blessing from Mother Ganga."
