New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a tour of West Bengal today. This visit is considered important in view of the upcoming assembly elections. BJP is preparing to exert its full force in Bengal, and the Prime Minister himself is seen taking command of it. During this visit, PM Modi will launch many development projects and will also address a public meeting.
The Prime Minister will reach Ranaghat in Nadia district at around 11:15 am. Here he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of many projects related to the National Highway. On this occasion, while addressing the local people, he will talk about the schemes and development works of the Central Government.
This visit is taking place at a time when Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is continuously attacking the central government regarding SIR. It is believed that PM Modi can also express his views openly on this issue. In such a situation, along with political messages, election signals can also be seen in his rally.
The Prime Minister will dedicate two national highway projects worth about Rs 3,200 crore. These include the inauguration of a 66.7 km four-lane road from Barajaguli to Krishnanagar on National Highway-34 in Nadia district. Apart from this, the foundation stone of the 17.6 km long four-lane road from Barasat to Barajaguli in the North 24 Parganas district will also be laid.
With the construction of these roads, travel between Kolkata and Siliguri will become easier. Travel time may be reduced by about two hours. Traffic will be smooth, fuel will be saved, and business activities will gain momentum. Besides, tourism is also expected to get a boost due to better connectivity with neighboring districts and countries.
After West Bengal, the Prime Minister will also visit Assam, where he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth about Rs 15,600 crore. The new terminal building of the popular Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati will be inaugurated.
This new terminal, built on approximately 1.4 lakh square meters, has been prepared to handle 1.3 crore passengers annually. Its design is inspired by the culture and nature of Assam, in which a glimpse of “Bamboo Garden” will be seen.
The Prime Minister will perform the Bhoomi Pujan of the Ammonia-Urea Project of Assam Valley Fertilizer and Chemical Company in Namrup, Dibrugarh. There will be an investment of about Rs 10,600 crore in this project, which is expected to create new employment opportunities in the area and provide a better supply of fertilizer to the farmers.
