PM Modi Addresses Students In Late-Night Video, Promises Stronger Crackdown On Paper Leaks

New Delhi: Amidst the ongoing agitation at Jantar Mantar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a video message late at night and clarified the government's stand on paper leak cases. He said that incidents like paper leak are a serious issue related to the future of lakhs of students and the government will take stricter action than before against such crimes. The Prime Minister also said that new legal provisions will be discussed in the cabinet meeting to be held on this issue.

What did the Prime Minister say about the paper leak?

Addressing the students and parents, the Prime Minister said that paper leak cannot be considered a normal incident under any circumstances. This affects the hard work of the students and their families also have to face mental stress. He assured that the culprits will not be spared at any cost.

What action has the government taken so far?

The Prime Minister said that the investigating agencies are continuously working on the paper leak cases that have come to light in the last few months. Many accused have also been arrested. The entire focus of the government is on breaking such networks so that there are no irregularities in any examination in future.

What was done to save one year of the students?

The PM said that the biggest effort of the government was that the education and year of the students should not be wasted. For this, the examination of about 22 lakh candidates was conducted again in a very short time. 
Along with this, the results were also released on time so that the passing students do not face any problems in admission and further studies.

Is the government preparing to bring a new law?

The Prime Minister said that the government will not be limited to arrests only. A proposal has been prepared to set up a fast track court for speedy hearings of paper leak cases. This draft will be discussed in the cabinet and will be finalised after the suggestions of the ministers. After this, preparations are being made to present it in Parliament.

What changes have been made in the Higher Education Department?

Meanwhile, the central government has also made major administrative changes in the higher education department. Senior IAS officer Vineet Joshi has been removed from the post of secretary and sent to the Panchayati Raj Ministry. In his place, Naresh Pal Gangwar has been appointed as the new secretary of Higher Education Department.
